Hi there! Thanks for stopping by! Hopefully you can tell by looking around that I like to make things. I learned how to crochet a little over 4 years ago, but dropped it as soon as my first child was born. I now have two little ones, ages 3 and 4 who provide endless joy and inspiration to my day. As they’ve gotten older, I’ve been able to pick up my crafting a bit and have learned to sew and knit. I hope to share my makings and offer any tips that I come across along the way. Please feel free to comment on posts. I know very few crafty-folks in my “real” life and would love to get to know you!
And…in case you were wondering…
Here’s the nursery rhyme from which my blog name was derived:
Hickety Pickety
hickety, pickety, my black hen,
she lays eggs for gentlemen
gentlemen come every day
to see what my black hen doth lay
sometimes 9 and sometimes 10
hickety, pickety, my black hen
I’ve also seen it written as “my fat hen.” Either way, I like the imagery and how it ties into both blogging and making. :)
See ya soon!

Hi Chrissy
Awesome website! You are so talented. The quilt you made for the new baby (Maureen Alice), was gorgeous and OTG will love the stuffed animal.[Reply]

I clicked “Shop Local” on etsy and found your shops and blog. I really like your creations and finds and would like to follow your blog on google reader (if I find a blog and don’t add it to reader, I always forget to go back). Can you add an RSS feed? Thanks!

I found your blog when I was trying to find “dress up party” ideas for my 3 year old. You’ve given me lots of idea for a co-ed party! I especially loved the invitations you sent. Sounded like you made them yourself. Is there any way I could get the pdf template and copy your idea? Thanks!
